ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Ron Gard has written three books on collecting American folk art and antique decoys, The Ward Brothers’ Decoys: A Collector’s Guide with Brian McGrath, The McCleery Auction with folk art consultant Robert Shaw, and Isaac’s Ark: The Art and Times of Isaac Smith. He is an avid collector of American folk art and has lectured for museums and organizations throughout the country. He served on the advisory board of the American Folk Art Museum in New York City. Ron is an award-winning photographer and had two major exhibits at the Dallas Museum of Natural History. He served on the board of the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, previously known as the Dallas Museum of Natural History, for more than 14 years. An active conservationist, Ron was a founding director of the Dallas Chapter of the Gulf Coast Conservation Association. In 2019, the Coastal Conservation Association named him Conservation Sportsman of the Year. In 2023, he received the Texas Parks and Wildlife Lone Star Land Steward Award.
